| Introduction | I started the business in 2002, trading as Richard Thomson Associates, and formed RTA Instruments Ltd in March 2006. The principle focus has been on providing and supporting tools for analysis, thin film deposition, measurement and control applications from market-leading suppliers. We focused on research, development and process control in the materials science, energy research and semiconductor markets. We offered a significant breadth of products, including: Surface analysis systems - Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. Thin film metrology tools - k-Space Associates, Inc. Thin film deposition systems - PVD Products, Inc. MBE systems and components - Riber SA MBE components - Addon Creative Epitaxie MBE electron sources - Staib Imstruments GmbH The company closed for new business in December 2023, with my retirement.
