| Introduction | I'm just an ordinary bloke in a big city in middle England. I have a job. And a wife. Kids. No dog. I fear that the country's going down the pan. Standards, services, morals - all poor and getting worse. Politics, journalism, the BBC - all heading for lowest common denominator territory. And at a scary rate. I'd like to blame Tony Blair (and I often do) but it started before he and his cronies came to power. Though his over-riding aim of establishing "the lowest (barely) acceptable standard for the cheapest possible price" hasn't helped. But this isn't a political blog. Just an occasional ramble about the sad decline of a wonderful country and its people. And before you ask, no I'm not a sad old fogey harking back to the good old days. I'm barely into my 40s, like to think I have my finger on the pulse of modern music, and enjoy a good game of footie as much as the next person. But that doesn't stop me believing that England is heading down the toilet. Fast. You know it's right. |
