| Introduction | After obtaining a BA in Psychology @ Tougaloo College, he returned home to Memphis where he was hired at TN Job Corps Placement. Just after getting his 1st job since college, Kenny met Lori Saunders, a native of Macon, GA attending graduate school @ the University of Memphis-they married in 2002. 3 years working with TN Job Corps Placement, Rodgers was hired w/ a nonprofit, WICS, contracted w/ the Memphis Housing Authority, where he gained knowledge about Federal Grants. In 2002 the Macon Housing Authority hired Kenny to lead the Community and Supportive Services component of the HOPE VI grant. After all but closing-out the grant, Rodgers started a consulting firm providing technical assistance for grantees & municipalities. Along with the firm, Rodgers bought a bar and got active in the city. Nominated by the Bibb Board of Ed to complete an open seat in 2007; Rodgers served the term but lost the primary election. He then served as the Education Committee Chair for the Chamber of Commerce. He has since sold all of his business interest in Macon (with the exception of Pi Services Group, LLC). Kenny and Lori left Macon to travel the country. |
