| Introduction | I grew up in upstate New York, living on my grandfather's farm until I was 10, then moving to a small town. I left SUNY Albany in 1966 to join the Marines and fight in Vietnam, where I was a helicopter machine gunner. I flew 300 missions, and was awarded 15 Air Medals, Combat Aircrew Wings, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry among other decorations. After Vietnam I went back to school and earned undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and English Literature. I worked for 20 years in journalism as investigative reporter, supervising editor, and columnist, receiving several awards and a Pulitzer nomination. I am active in several veterans organizations and an advocate for my fellow veterans. Masters of the Art my first book is selling well worldwide, and has been followed by Granny Snatching, How a 92-Year Old Widow Fought the Courts and Her Family to Win Her Freedom, also non-fiction; and The Hypocrite, my first novel. All are available from my website and the usual web outlets. |
