Introduction I am an educated layman in scientific fields. I was a math major as an undergraduate. I took much of the mathematics relevant to advanced physics, but not all of it. I had almost enough physics as an undergraduate to earn a minor in physics, but since I graduated in three years and had three other non-STEM minors (law and society, history, and government). I couldn't quite fit it in.
Interests I have always been an autodidact. In high school, I taught myself high school geometry, precalculus including trigonometry, three semesters of college calculus, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics from textbooks alone through self-study. I also taught myself some topics that weren't taught in my two semester undergraduate physics for majors class that I took in college, including nuclear physics, thermodynamics and classical optics in an independent study course in college. (I also taught myself from textbooks, a semester of financial accounting and a semester of managerial accounting.) Since completing college, I have studied selected topics in mathematics relevant to physics, general relativity, quantum physics, nuclear physics and organic chemistry from textbooks. I have read numerous educated layman oriented books on science and physics, and I have read many preprints and published physics journal articles in topics that interest me every week since at least May of 2011 (as I write this more than nine years). I also stay abreast of new developments in neuroscience, psychology, historical linguistics, human evolution, anthropology, history and prehistory, economics, medicine, genetics, law, politics and military affairs.
