| Introduction | A 72 year old male living in the desert SW-USA for 33 yrs. Recent widower after 35 yrs in second marriage. Loved both wives very much. Two fine sons and an adopted daughter from 1st marriage plus 4 wonderful grandchildren. Dee had 5 children, 3 grandchildren & 1 great grandson. No children between us. Midwest high school graduate, formal art training. Former US Marine with some peace-time service in the Far East. Retired from lifelong career in graphic arts/printing. Brief stint as advertising executive, later experience in Security as a private security officer. Fate brought Dee and I together in ‘73 and both knew instantly this was the person with whom we would spend the rest of our lives. Compatible “water signs”; she an Aquarius and me a Cancer. First words I heard her say to me were, “I love you”, the very last ones were, “I love you forever.” During our 35 yrs together there were many, “I hate you”s as well but such is life. Sadly, Dee had a family history of bipolar disorder, diabetes and dementia. Dee’s bout with dementia escalated to the debilitating stages in ‘06 and it was then that I became her primary caregiver. |
