About me

LocationHuntersville, NC
IntroductionAs a little girl, I was addicted to Laura Ingalls Wilder books. Read them till they were dog-earred. The dream of being self-sufficient, living off the land was just that - a dream. Far from the life of a young girl living in a subdivision in Annapolis, MD. The only garden I had was a petunia patch. Even after my husband, Chris and I married, our idea of a big garden was a few tomato and squash plants. But something happened about 15 years ago which prompted us on our journey of living off the land. We now live on a small 8 acre farm in Huntersville with our 4 children ages 21-15 where we attempt to raise 50% of our food. In addition to the garden and greenhouse, there are horses, cows, chickens, and goats. We run a CSA and a hydroponic lettuce business. Last year our farm became 75% carbon neutral when we installed solar panels. My hope is that this blog will introduce you to how and why we got into this big adventure and inspire you to go for your dreams...whatever they may be.
