| Introduction | Allyssa Victory (Villanueva) is a Bay Area native raised in North Oakland and now resides in East Oakland. Allyssa began working with Oakland's youth organizations in high school and quickly became a student leader and advocate for justice. Allyssa holds a B.A. in Ethnic Studies with Honors and an African American Studies Minor from UC San Diego. Allyssa then obtained her J.D. with Government concentration from UC Hastings College of the Law. After completing her undergraduate and post-graduate degrees, Allyssa works in the local community as a labor and employment attorney, workers' rights advocate, community organizer and educator, as well as a mentor. Allyssa also works statewide as a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association leadership and as an executive staff member of the Afrikan Black Coalition. She has expertise in areas ranging from labor, civil rights, criminal justice reform, grassroots organizing, and education.
