| Introduction | By now a retiree, I lived most of my life outside of Italy, my home country, trying to serve peace, development and human rights. My first demonstration was against racism in South Africa when I was 14. I marched against the Vietnam war, for the rights of women, against the war in Iraq. The recent political developments in Italy (back to fascism) made me think to write a blog. I am trilingual, no good in any of them. I decided to write in English as in this way more people may read it (if any will ever read it...). My apologies for the mistakes thus. It is the blog of a disillusioned man, a sad man who sees his ideals being put aside day after day by the politicians, the masses who believe them, world "leaders", Wall Street. But of a man who still hopes. Heroic people fought nazism and fascism with no means but their ideals. And knew that they could lose their life, and many did. I am less heroic and will try to fight with words. |
