| Introduction | As most of you know we have a gorgeous baby daughter Summer Hope Rudd who has been born with a serious abdominal wall defect called an exomphalos. Our daughter Summer was born on 8th July 2008 at 10.04am weighing 6lb 10oz. She will require corrective surgery - this will probably be carried out when she is 2 or 3 years old. She was born with some of her bowel and part of her liver outside her body in a membraneous sac. For more detail about the condition have a look on the GEEPS website listed above which we found to be a great source of information during the pregnancy. This blog is primarily a source of information for friends and family (though not meant to replace other communication channels). We would also be happy if other people going through the same experience could draw on this as a source of information. |
