About me

Gender Female
Occupation fibre artist
Location toronto, ontario, Canada
Introduction After many years as a social worker, I have re-invented myself as a fibre artist. I returned to school and received my B.F.A. program from the Ontario College of Art and Design University in 2014. My 'home' was the material arts department. However, I explored the ceramics, drawing and painting, wood working, plastics, and jewellery spaces. Since, I enrolled in Jane Dunnewold's art mastery program. Her mentorship encouraged me to develop my artistic voice. I am an avid explorer and take advantage of every opportunity to visit the far corners of the world, camera and curiosity in hand. My work is inspired by my endless fascination with the human condition. I am as interested in the colourful threads that create strong kinship ties as those that are frayed and fractured. A continuous curiosity about ‘what makes people tic’ has driven me throughout both my professional careers. I believe that It is through our ties to others that we have our most intense emotional experiences. The inspiration for my artwork is to explore interpersonal relationships, to create dialogue that breaks down cross cultural barriers and explore shared experiences.
Interests fine arts and crafts, I enjoy 'making'. I also love to travel and enjoy spirited debate.
