Introduction Some people have to pigeon hole you. They just can’t continue their processing of you without a label. ‘You're a biker’ well I ride a bike yes. ‘But you have long hair, you must be a hippy, a hippy biker.’ Well if you have to label me that one is quite popular. Then there are entirely different pursuits. I've hiked in Patagonia, Nepal and the States, but with my aluminium water bottle, tent, sleeping bag and marmite sandwiches the necessity for categorization seems to pass me by, hiker, trekker or god forbid rambler. Being a more congenial pastime it clearly isn’t a life choice that needs classification. I can snowboard too and read books. I suppose it's about the look. If had a tartan flask and tweed jacket I would be a rambler. I've always been the worst dressed snowboarder on the slope, what I save in fashion it spend on lift tickets. I don't own slippers a conservatory or open fire so I'm not a proper reader either. Its stereotyping isn’t it? If you partake in a pastime that's fine but if you dress the part, if it becomes a significant part of your life, you are your hobby, you interest becomes your identity. Wantta label me? How about RIP when I've finished?
