Introduction	This summer I will be spending five weeks in Ecuador with Interhealth South America (www.interhealthsouthamerica.net). Interhealth is a program designed for medical students to practice Spanish, work in local clinics and medical outreach, and learn about traditional health practices in Ecuador. This will be my first trip south of the equator, and I am looking forward to new sights, sounds, smells, and tastes as I travel from the capital city, Quito, to the Andes mountains, to the Amazon river basin, and then the Pacific coast of South America. This blog will be a place for me to reflect on my experiences and share them with friends and family.
