| Introduction | I am a Native New Yorker but now I live close to Philadelphia (South Jersey) I once found an old discarded fabric book at the HS of Art and Design in NYC where I attended. It was filled with small fabric swatches from a 1955 fashion trend catalog. This was 1977 and I had never seen so many beautiful prints. I didn’t know then the salvaged swatches would begin a lifelong journey of finding, collecting and using fabric in my work. My attraction to fabric would become deeply rooted into every part of my working life as an artist & designer & educator. My career goals have starting and stopping points. While I never intend to let go of my gift design businnes or working as an illustrator the economy has forced me to make difficult decisions. I have never allowed these stopping points to stunt my creative process. I accept change as challenges to reinvent and continue my life goals to remain creative.I began my career in NY and worked closely with many dynamic fashion innovators. Since they are all related to fabric fashion I will share these stories with my readers as I explore new technologies in fabric. I am drawn to sustainable processes and eco friendlyfashion. |
