IntroductionTo be revealed through my blogs... but In terms of social issues, I have been described both as a moderately conservative liberal, and as a left of center conservative, take your pick. My last political hero was Bobby Kennedy but continue to have great respect for Jimmy Carter, a failed President but great citizen of the world, and Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, a moderate trying to hold together a deeply divided Anglican community. I persist in being a die-hard Pirates fan but every year of futility the loyalty is harder to muster...

Favorite moviesAnything starring or directed by Clint Eastwood (Come on Sucker, make my day!), Gone with the Wind, Schindler's List, Easy Rider, American Graffiti, Snakes on a Plane (the quintessential B- movie), Witness for the Prosecution, Almost anything featuring Morgan Freeman, Dog Day Afternoon and most anything starring Al Pacino, Sea of Love, Seven (but it's really gruesome!), Bridge Over the River Kwai, and many more prior to the 2000s
Favorite musicCool jazz, including Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Art Blakey and Lionel Hampton to name just a few of the classic greats - and of course Louie!, Do-wop virtually all of it with In the Still of the Night and The Duke of Earl high on my list, Patsy Cline (Crazy, etc.), The Beatles (Eleanor Rigby, Fool on the Hill, Paperback Writer among my favorite favorites...), Iris Dementhe (Appalachian folk and gospel - check her out!), Low Rawls, Martha and the Vandellas, Jackie Wilson, Smokey and most of Motown, Al Green, Tom Petty & Heartbreakers and The Eurythmics, (eclectic if nothing else!)
Favorite booksThe Book of Common Prayer (both for its elegant language and spirituality); The Five Books of Moses (translated by Robert Alter); The Book of Job and the Gospel of Luke; The Collected works of TS Elliot, Gerard Manly Hopkins, Robert Frost and Wallace Stevens, The Dante Club (Pearl), Inventing America (G.
