| Introduction | I hate bios. My jobs and education are not who I am. I used to call myself an artist, dreamer and warrior. None of those things are truly me either. I am. That is it. I get that people want to know a little about me so here goes: I have over 23 years of experience in grassroots training advocacy and issue based organizing. I am from Alabama and attended the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) where I majored in political science and history. I began my advocacy and human rights career as intern for the American Bar Association Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative (ABA CEELI), where I assisted with the creation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights Assessment Index. In 2002, I partnered with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on their mission to Macedonia as an election observer. In 2005 I joined the staff of Project Vote and ACORN. At ACORN and Project Vote, I gained a detailed understanding of the progressive movement and the Alinsky organizing method. In 2008 I came forward as the confidential source of the New York Times and then publicly to expose ACORN, and gained notoriety as the ACORN whistle blower. |
