| Introduction | Appalachia Service Project (ASP) is a Christian ministry, open to all people, whose vision is to eradicate substandard housing in Central Appalachia and equip and inspire lives of Christian service. We make houses warmer, safer and drier at no cost to families in need, while offering life-changing experiences for the families, volunteers, and staff alike. Today, even with 15,000 volunteers a year, we are only able to say “yes” to 1 out of 10 families who come to us for help. As we seek to double the number of Appalachian families we serve -- to say “yes” to 1,000 families every year -- it’s obvious that we need to double our number of volunteers. Over the years, ASP has grown simply by word of mouth and a job well done. Imagine the impact we can have if we send the word out, if we ask for help. My job is to increase ASP's volunteer base to 30,000 by 2013, by implementing our first-ever marketing plan -- designed specifically to help us recruit an even greater number of volunteers.
