Introduction Conarth Macheka is a budding writer-poet. Born in a family of seven in the then war-torn farming community of Mashonaland Central, Conarth grew up the hard way, just like any other rural child. His powerful writings are mainly centred on his poor childhood experiences and upbringing. He is the author of "No manna from Heaven & other stories" and "Bits & Pieces" - collections of children's short stories and poetry respectively, both written in English. Conarth also writes intriguing poetry in his vernacular, Shona. He dreams to have his late brother's works published someday (a Shona anthology entitled "Chapwititi". Until the ordinary school-going boy or girl starts speaking or writing undiluted English or pure Shona, Conarth will not stop writing...
