| Introduction | As a kid in school I kept one shoulder to the wall at all times. As a woman I rode a motorcycle solo around the edge of India. How does that shy girl grow up to spend 5 months and 7,000+ miles riding a man's machine solo in a country were women don't travel alone? There was no one thing that propelled me from 0 to 80 (mph), but rather an accumulation of events. What I can tell you is that since those early days I've earned a degree in journalism from Indiana University and an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. I've lived , worked, and travelled in 19 countries. My work has appeared in anthologies, newspapers, and magazines: Chicago Tribune, Far Eastern Economic Review, Cosmopolitan India, Travelers' Tales, Prague Post, Daily National, Open 24 Hours, Financial Express, and others. I'm also a National Motorcycle Safety Instructor for 12 years, having trained more than 500 people to ride. |
