| Introduction | Born 15th October 1977 in Kent, England, Khalid was brought up by his father, former medical professional Dr A.I.M. Shahjahan and his mother, renowned writer & journalist Khadija Shahjahan. Graduating from the University of York in 1999 & qualifying as a solicitor in 2004, Khalid currently lives with his best friend & wife Gemma, mini-me daughter, Zara and pet-ner in crime, Thomas the Cat. During the day, Khalid works as a consultant for Neeham Canoon Legal Consultants and is currently on assignment with Taylors Solicitors in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, whilst during the evening, he is an active participant & executive committee member of the charitable organisation, the Ripon Amateur Operatic Society. The catalyst for prompting Khalid into venturing down the road of writing The Journey was the tragic loss of Khadija in May 2009. The story is a semi-autobiographical take on his own experiences in losing his mother and the cross-cultural divide between the East & West. His key literary inspirations are his beloved sister Taslima who has been published as a poet in her own right, and his dearly departed mother to whom The Journey is dedicated. |
