| Introduction | Hi! I'm Stephen Clendenin. This blog is about Open Water Swimming, and the sport of competitive swimming. The summer of my senior year I discovered that I have an intense love and passion for swimming, both in and out of the ocean. Racing other swimmers out in open waters, and moving as fast as I can to stay warm is what gets me up in the morning. I started this blog during my final semester as a senior at the University of Mary Washington. I swam on the varsity team all four years, and was sad to part with it. So I have decided to continue my swimming career as an open water swimmer, a competitive swimmer, sometime triathlete, and maybe one day Olympic hopeful. One day I hope to coach my own team. After coaching for Saint Vincent College in PA, I have come back to my hometown and am the head age group coach for Blue Wave Swim Team. This blog will be dedicated to helping feed my love of swimming, and looking at other athletes who share the same passion. I want to look at the many different facets of open water swimming, including techniques, training, how athletes train; pretty much the whys and hows of open water swimming. I hope you enjoy! |
