| Introduction | Welcome to the new AT&T Wireless! This blog is for people who are customers or employees of the new AT&T Wireless. AT&T Wireless is a part of the new AT&T company which offers a wide range of telecommunication services to consumers nationwide. The official name of AT&T's wireless division is AT&T Mobiliity, Inc. however it is unofficially known as AT&T Wireless by many consumers and employees. AT&T's wireless division was known as Cingular Wireless until 2007. Cingular was formed by the merger of BellSouth Wireless and SBC Wireless in 2001. Cingular then acquired the original AT&T Wireless (which was an independent company at the time) in 2004. Cingular's parent companies, the new AT&T (formerly SBC) and BellSouth, then merged and rebranded Cingular as AT&T Mobility, Inc. AT&T stores sell all AT&T products and services. AT&T Wireless Technology: The company's current wireless network uses GSM/GPRS technology. The company uses both the cellular (850 MHz) and PCS (1900 MHz) bands. They also offer EDGE high-speed data over most of their network, and WCDMA (UMTS) + HSDPA 3G technology over a large and growing area that includes most major cities. |
