Introduction José Héctor Cadena grew up along the San Ysidro/Tijuana borderlands. He earned his B.A. in English with a minor in Spanish and Chicana/o Studies at SDSU and his M.F.A. from SFSU. José is the co-founder of SF's on-going reading series Voz Sin Tinta. José has appeared as a guest panelist in “Track 21: Tijuana en el Arte”, as a featured poet at Poe-Ti-Sa Sexta Edición: Poesía Chicana at Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT), and UABC Radio's Acanto y Laurel. He has been featured in San Francisco’s Litquake, The Reader’s Cafe at Fort Mason, Oakland Crossroads, and more. His work can be found in Raices y Más: An Anthology of Young Border Voices, Shackled: Pacific Review 2012, Cipactli, Transfer Magazine, La Bloga, San Diego Poetry Annual, and Red Light Lit. José is a current PhD Candidate in the Department of American Studies at The University of Kansas.
