| Introduction | Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Athié has resided in Arlington, Massachusetts, for the last decade. He holds a BFA from the University of Missouri. Athié's love for art, architecture and patterns in nature began with admiration of his father's abstract oil paintings, contemplation of Eero Saarinen's Gateway Arch as well as Buckminster Fuller Dymaxion maps. Much of his work reads as a portrayal of city-like forms, nuanced space-scapes and the contemplation of balance and dissonance in nature and construction. His layered, subtly abstracted approach encourages viewers to immerse themselves in the pictures over multiple viewings. |
