| Introduction | So most of you who've known me over the years probably aren't all that surprised to hear that I've given up the day job once again for a life less ordinary. However, despite the cv littered with jobs abroad it has taken me no less than 10 years to finally make this move. Volunteering for VSO was something I first explored way back in 2001 when I was a mere 23 year old with her backpack as her home and a pocket full of whimsical dreams. Taking off after almost five years in Bristol, and seven years after my last galavant has not been an easy decision, but it is without doubt the right one. Africa has tempted me with her heat, her music, her people since the first time I saw Anika Rice doing 'Aid Work' on Challenge Anika in Etheopia at the age of 8. I remember saying right then and there that I wanted to do that. And so, here I am, on the brink of a new adventure. I hope Africa welcomes me as much as she will challenge me! |
