Introduction As a child I spent summers by the sea on Fire Island and in the mountains of Pennsylvania. My mother, Peregrine Higgins, is an artist, and my grandfather was a photographer. My grandfather was a gardener and our family home had gardens with irises, lilacs, roses and a small vineyard. In my twenties I lived in the Southwest where there were incredible vistas of sky, dusty pink colored mountains and silver rivers running through the landscape. My husband and I traveled to, and camped at remote (at that time) areas, such as the beautiful Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. Presently, I teach painting at the Art School at Old Church (tasoc.org) in Demarest, New Jersey, and have a studio near the Hudson River. The quality of light is soft, at times luminescent. Nature, and human interface with it, are threaded through my art.
