Introduction | As a child I spent summers by the sea on Fire Island and in the mountains of Pennsylvania. My mother, Peregrine Higgins, is an artist, and my grandfather was a photographer. My grandfather was a gardener and our family home had gardens with irises, lilacs, roses and a small vineyard. In my twenties I lived in the Southwest where there were incredible vistas of sky, dusty pink colored mountains and silver rivers running through the landscape. My husband and I traveled to, and camped at remote (at that time) areas, such as the beautiful Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. Presently, I teach painting at the Art School at Old Church (tasoc.org) in Demarest, New Jersey, and have a studio near the Hudson River. The quality of light is soft, at times luminescent. Nature, and human interface with it, are threaded through my art. My website is MaudGuilfoyle.com Prints by mail of my art and photographs can be found at artofibox etsy store and downloads can be ordered from PocketCards.net. email me at maud9@mac.com All images are copyright protected* |
