| Introduction | “After living in the mountains of Montana for 25 years we sold everything and split for the tropics. We bought a sailboat we found up a river in Guatemala and lived aboard her while we sailed the western Caribbean for the next 11 years. We had a ball sailing from country to country and enjoying the Carribean and all it had to offer. We sold our sailboat in February of 2012. That brings us to the current chapter in our lives where we continue to travel and live aboard. The plan is to go to a country we want to check out, rent an apartment, and stay there until they throw us out, which is usually after about three months. During that time we have a chance to really get a feel for the place, the people, and their customs. The slow pace of the long-term traveler suits us well and is a very civilized way to see the world. The apartment acts as our home base from where we can travel within the region and see what each country has to offer. Then we pack it all up and the journey continues onto the next countr.
