Introduction Terry Ligon is a Historical Archaeologist, a Storyteller, and a teaching member at the Midwest African American Genealogical Institute Terry is a founding member of the African American Genealogical Society of Northern California-AAGSNC Mr. Ligon is a founding member of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Freedmen Association-CCFA, its mandate, is to educate, empower, engage and embrace the history of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Freedmen Terry’s areas of research are: • Congressional Record Serial Set • Dawes Land Allotment and Census Rolls and Plat Maps • Equity Case 7071, Bettie Ligon vs The Choctaw Nation, Chickasaw Nation, and the Department of the Interior • Africans on the Trail of Tears • Communities of Chickasaw and Choctaw Freedmen, pre and post Oklahoma statehood.
