Terry LIGON
Introduction | Terry Ligon is a Historical Researcher, Storyteller, Videographer and teaching member at the Midwest African American Genealogical Institute. He is a founding member of the African American Genealogical Society of Northern California (AAGSNC) and a founding member of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Freedmen Association (CCFA), which is dedicated to educating, empowering, and preserving the history of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Freedmen. Terry’s research focuses on: • Congressional Record Serial Set • Dawes Land Allotment and Census Rolls, including Plat Maps • Equity Case 7071 (Bettie Ligon vs. The Choctaw Nation, Chickasaw Nation, and the Department of the Interior) • People of African Descent on the Trail of Tears • Communities of Chickasaw and Choctaw Freedmen, before and after Oklahoma statehood. |
