| Introduction | HI! I LOVE picture books and I believe in the transformative power of Children's LIterature! It is just that plain and simple. I love how the message that children's lit can carry can be applicable to one and all--no matter how old or how small. I strongly believe in and enthusiastically promote using picture books as mentor texts to teach reading and writing for all grade levels. So. Because of my love affair with children's lit, especially picture books---I share this blog of thoughts with you! I have tried to include ideas on how to best utilize the books as mentor texts. When I am not reading picture books, I am a teacher, literacy specialist, literacy coach, librarian, literacy consultant, learner and cheerleader for literacy. Always. I am also a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, traveler, nature lover, yoga-lover and walker. I think that's it for now! |
