IntroductionSwan Lake Nature Study Area is a 1,200 acre conservation area located within Lemmon Valley and located 14 miles north of Reno, Nevada. Swan Lake NSA is a unique ecosystem with various habitats ranging from emergent marsh wetland, open water, riparian, playa, and upland shrub. Many migratory bird species use Swan Lake for migration, wintering, breeding, and foraging. It has been designated as an Audubon Important Bird Area and is home to over 150 species of birds. In addition to birding, the Swan Lake Nature Study Area is also a place for wildlife preservation, habitat protection, environmental education, and outdoor recreation.
