Introduction I started my textile art twenty years ago. My work seems to grow organically. It is rarely pre-planned. Colours or fabrics I want to use together, often trigger my motivation. Other times, I may start by sketching an idea or experimenting a new technique. I make my own fabrics from silk and wool fibres, dyed cotton and knitted yarns. Then they are embellished with encrustrations of fused and distressed fabrics, hand stitches with unusual threads, fine ribbons and beads. I am always very excited by the dialogue established between the piece I am trying to create and myself. I'm fascinated by the transformation of fabric and fibre into adornments such as textile jewellery, handbags, panels, lampshades and others. "The world we live in today expects very little in terms of quality. Disposable consumption fuels the world's economies." My work aims to find recognition for the value of "unique" handmade objects that, eventually, last longer for the pleasure and benefit of our senses, as well as the promotion of individual creativity leading to the development of new original styles and techniques.
