| Introduction | I am in my early fifties. I think I have seen too much to think our western civilisation is going to last. My thoughts on human beings are mixed. Some of them I adore, but most I find a waste of space. For all the good I have contributed in my life I probably belong to the latter. For all the pessimism I feel I am optimistic deep down. I would hate to live in a perfect world. One day I will die and that will be it for me. I don't mind dying in the slightest. Just don't tell me I am going to live in some hereafter form other than recycled chemicals. If people want to believe in religion that is their business. Just don't make it mine. I do care, however, in the human project. It sounds interesting. |
