| Introduction | Tut’Zanni exists to bring communities together through introduction to and education in various forms of physical theatre and folk arts- primarily commedia dell’arte, along with other forms of mask, clown, music, storytelling, puppetry, and visual arts. Bringing a variety of mediums to diverse audiences, we are striving to expand the views of not only what theatre can be, but what people can be. Tut’Zanni desires to use the stage as a means to incite dialogue, social change, and to bring people of all backgrounds together into a feeling of unity that will hopefully continue past the moment the curtains are drawn. We utilize commedia dell’arte and other forms of physical theater because we believe it is the most accessible to everyone. By using folk art and a “people’s theatre” medium, we create something that all people can relate to, and are able to bring forward ideas and concepts that they can not only easily understand, but feel a part of. It is our vision to create art that can pierce through language barriers, social barriers, and bring people together in a way that will encourage tolerance and understanding in a stronger sense of community. |
