Introduction	My home is populated by a hubby, two permanent cats and one with occasional visitor status . My hobbies include shooting with a longbow, cooking, yoga and nagging (apparently). I am an engineer by background but took a turn somewhere that changed me into a facilities manager My thyroid: therein lies a tale... with hindsight I first became symptomatic around 2002, been seeing the doc since about 2006 for related issues and got advanced symptoms in Feb 2010. After 3.5 years of being dismissed by my doctors with the 'it's your age' diagnosis (amongst others) I changed GPs. The new GP diagnosed me within 5 mins and after 2 questions (symptoms? family history?) so I was ramped up on dosage from Aug 2013 to Feb 2014 and should be 'healed' by mid 2015 (although will be on the treatment for the rest of my life). But. while I'm much better I'm still very symptomatic so I'm seeking treatment with a combined T3/T4 instead of the single T4 I'm currently prescribed, I have gained over 4 stone in weight (including 35lbs in a year) and according to the odds am unlikely to lose it with my condition... but I'm giving it a good British try.
