| Introduction | I just can’t seem to do small things. Projects that are done in a day – or even a week – just don’t seem to have the same allure as things that end up taking weeks and months to complete. I like a thing that involves research, that teaches me something, that pushes my limits both of understanding and then of skills. That feeling of dealing with several sets of “moving parts” engages me on a lot of levels. In the course of that project I become fascinated with things, ideas, motifs and will track them constantly until I'm satisfied I've got it. What may start as a picture in a book that I find while looking up other things may (and has) end up as a set of custom designed Medieval hardware on a leather covered box complete with hairy paw feet. What starts as light weight fabric for a summer gown evolved into a months-long project complete with embroidered mirrors. So I thought I’d chronicle my journeys….. |
