Introduction | In compiling this blog, I want to share the memories and the history learned about my hometown, Holyoke, Massachusetts. I am fascinated by buildings and spaces, including churches, schools, plazas, industrial plants, and retail spaces. Many little-known businesses contributed to the city's growth and its residents' employment, and these will be chronicled. The Registry of Deeds, newspapers, historical books, maps and atlases, and directories are researched to gather information about the edifices, their origins, and the people who worked to create their dreams. It has been quite a journey and an educational experience, and I hope you enjoy the offerings. Please be kind in the tone of your comments, as I know there will be some slip ups along the way. |
