| Introduction | I am presently in the approximately 47th iteration of my working life, transitioning from an intensive parenting absorption, and sorting through various part-time “careers,” paid and otherwise, to figure out who to be as I continue. I have taught college, analyzed data, written and “performed” poetry, worked one-on-one with autistic children as a special ed paraprofessional, designed and maintained websites, plunged into social justice activism, flirted with starting a jewelry-making business, studied Buddhism, conducted extensive research on midwives’ perceptions of gender and motherhood, and am currently writing a novel. Procrastination is something I have wrestled with throughout. I started Put it to Bed about a year ago to chronicle my “recovery,” and what I am learning as I work on showing up for my life. |
