Do you believe that forks are evolved from spoons?
No. I think both were an improvement past chopsticks. With a fork, you're 4 times as likely to keep whatever stuck on there than with a chopstick because of the extra prongs. Spoons, well, slurping soup from the bowl was messy, and a big piece of wood, essentially a fat chopstick, still didn't hold the liquid well. So they improvised. Hey, it could happen!
