| Introduction | Our last presidential race has been my one and only voting experience so far. Although some can make politics a black and white debate, choosing a political party is a very grey area. It's difficult to agree with one party entirely on every matter, which is why I think it is more appropriate to say that we lean towards (some more heavily than others) a certain party. This being said, my views tend to lean more towards a Democratic/liberal side. Like many before me, I'm taking this class because it's required; however I am actually (albeit slightly) looking forward to the topic. I think that what I want to get out of this class is that I want to care more about reading things such as The Washington Post or various political blogs. I know, I know that's kind of up to me, however I think that after getting a better understanding of our government I can more so trust myself to take the initiative and stay on top of important current events (which to me, is important in being a well-rounded person). My goals may seem nice, however after seeing my quiz scores on civics (70%) and current events (5 out of 12 -- wooops sorry America), I think I have a lot to learn in this class. |
