| Introduction | This is my blog to chronicle my frustration with the US health care system. I have a number of chronic conditions, including type 1 diabetes, hypothyroidism, severe food allergies (anaphylaxis), and depression. I have been attempting to find a way of getting health insurance while working on a contract basis. My jobs cover my rent and my food and my prescription co-insurance if I am insured. Because I am both part-time and contract, I am not eligible through either of my employers. By trade, I am currently a per-diem hospital chaplain and an hourly English tutor. Because I need insurance, I am exploring options that would employ me full-time, mostly in the not-for-profit sector. I have extensive experience in homeless and domestic violence services. I also have community organizing and church experience. If you are interested in my qualifications, my resume is available upon request. |
