| Introduction | The condition of state institutions in southern Africa mirrors the age of the states which attained political independence between 1964 and 1981. These conditions also reflects the complex unresolved contradictions in the political systems and corporate culture orientation. The institutional capability and politico-administrative framework within which these states operate have profound implications for private sector development and public-private partnerships . Further, the historical asymmetries in the relations between the region and Europe which have factored inequality, unemployment and chronic poverty require a different configuration of state institutions. As a public governance expert with an interest in government and business in the global economy, my specific area of interest is the nexus between regional integration, state functionalism and public private partnership development in southern Africa. I am currently extensively engaged in regional policy development with a focus on economic governance, corporate governance and political governance. I invite the inquisitive and perceptive minds in the region to interact with me on these subjects. |
