If you were a pirate, how would you avoid laughing when saying 'poop deck'?

Poop deck, while a hilarious phrase, is some sort of sea lingo and should be taken seriously in context. Especially in context of Master & Commander, when the word 'poop' gets thrown around a lot, but it doesn't mean anything but 'poop deck'.
