| Introduction | Born and raised in Campbell River, BC. Matt grew up competing in soccer, swimming and track. This ultimately progressed to Triathlon and Matt fell in love with the sport. In 2007, wanting to focus on Triathlon excellence, Matt and his family moved to Victoria, BC to train at the National Triathlon Centre. After graduating from Claremont Secondary and attending the University of Victoria, Matt decided to commit to the sport full-time. This resulted in Canada's best result at the World Junior Championships in the current format and his first professional win at 19 years of age. With the 2016 Olympics as the focus, Matt is committing the next four years to winning a medal for Canada. |
