| Introduction | Why am I interested in the programme? I am interested in the Fashion course at MMU because I believe that the course offers a range of skills that, once the candidate has graduated, can be applied to industry with competence and confidence. I like the fact that the course allows independence through seeking your own work experience, freelance work and pursing sponsorship as I believe, along with taking part in competitions such as Graduate Fashion Week; this gets the candidates name known and can lead to employment after university. Independence is very important to me because I do not like to be spoon fed information. I regard myself as someone that learns by doing a task, I learn through the experience and the difficulties that I faced. I then use this experience to develop my skills through going away and doing the particular task without having to seek further help, or though independent research. This gives me a greater sense of achievement once the task is complete, whilst at the same time, giving me confidence to strive at my own pace throughout the project, using my tutors as advisors and mentors rather than teachers. |
