About me

Introduction I curate the Eton Wick History Group archive built up over the over 30 years that its foundation in 1992. The village has a history going back to the Enclosed Causeway discovered on the South Field that dates to around 5000 years ago. The village, part of the Manor of Eton cum Stockdales and Colenorton was not subject to a successful Inclosure Act that John Penn, Lord of the Manor attempted to gain in 1826 so is surrounded by open fields, Commons and Lammas Land. There is even a remnant of the medieval Strip Farming on the western side of South Field. The research of Dr Judith Hunter and the History Group have revealed Eton Wick to be much more interesting than I thought it did when living there in the 1960's and 70's. My other blogs are personal reflection on my life.
