About me

Location Ottawa, Canada
Introduction I've been interested in wine ever since I first had a glass with Christmas dinner when I was twelve years old. Thanks, Mom and Dad. But what really kicked my passion for wine into high gear was living (and working) in Europe for 8 years. So many different wines, each one a new experience. Now I'm an accredited sommelier, as well as a Chartered Accountant and a retired CEO, who gets to indulge in his passion for wine (when I'm not on the golf course). What do I like? more Old World Wines than New World, trying lesser-known varietals (hello, Italy), and biodynamic wines. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote that, "The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function." So I like to read Alice Feiring and Robert Parker...and Jancis Robinson. I'll be writing about wines from a "living in Ottawa" perspective, but I'm sure to wander into broader, yet related, subjects.
