Introduction	We live on the east coast of Italy in the Abruzzo region. The coast is generally sandy beach and flat, heading west there are ever taller foothills until one reaches the Apennines including Gran Sasso d'Italia (the great rock of Italy) which at 9,553 feet is the tallest mountain in continental Italy south of the Alps. The region is ideal for growing olives and grapes as well as wheat. The best pasta in Italy comes from the Abruzzo from small town called Fara S. Martino. Also, excellent beef is raised on the high plains near Gran Sasso.
