Introduction	I am a biology major, and not great at sitting in front of computers for huge amounts of time. Blogging is a whole new thing for me. I grew up with a conservative father and a liberal mother.My grandfather (mother's side) went to medical school in Germany and left right before Hitler took over. According to family stories, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in New Guinea. He was part of a team of doctors that was sent to Hiroshima to witness the aftermath of the A-bomb. Thereafter, he became a devoted pacifist and a very active antiwar protester.There is no doubt a lengthy file on him in Washington. My father is a Republican in the blue state of New York.He is a retired civil engineer. I have lived in Austin for over 20 years, and am typically liberal on most issues, especially keeping big corporations in check. I also can identify with some issues that are typically conservative. Politics, in general, upsets me, mainly because I think the system needs to change and no party really represents my views.I sound like a Tea Party member, but no way.....
