Introduction I began my teaching career in Utah earning a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Topics of study included literacy instruction, and child development. This concentration gave me a strong foundation in understanding best practices for elementary students. In 2006, I earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership focusing on learning assessment and system performance. This specialization provided advanced graduate training in both practical & technical aspects of documentation and use of school outcomes. My focus included understanding systems for assessing learning and utilizing results. During my 20 years as a professional educator, I have taught 2nd-5th grade. I also taught K-5 technology classes. Additionally, I held the position of Title One Coordinator and in 2007-08, also I worked as a professional development specialist for our central office. In this position I created and taught many professional development workshops in literacy education and technology integration. In 2010 I was named Oregon Teacher of the Year. This honor allowed me to attend International Space Camp, meet President Obama, and to collaborate with educators around the world.
Interests I am very excited this year to be working with a brand new elementary school in our district. Camas Ridge Community School staff are committed to teaching all students with an emphasis on the arts, and project based learning. We are dedicated to working with and working for our local community thus, teaching students what happens at school is not separate from the world at large, rather, school is an integrated piece of the greater world. My interests include, Creativity in the Classroom, Arts Education, Project Based Learning, Differentiated Instruction, and Student Community Involvement.

What have you done today to make the world a better place for all?
