| Introduction | I belong to Telugu Mulakanadu Brahmana subsect of the Smartha Brahmana Community and am affiliated to Bharadwajas gotra {the pravara is: aangirasa barahaspatya bharadwajasa trayrsheya pravaranvitha bharadwajasa gotraha aapasthambha sutrah yajusshakhaadhaayi }. We ,it is believed, belong to Cheppalli family and hail from Andhra. Cheppalli is an ancient place located near Kamalapuram town of Kadapa District—in fact,it is this tract comprising the Kamalapuram mandalam and its surrounding area that is historically known as Mulikinad or Mulakanadu 300. Sage Agastya is believed to have resided in his Ashrama near Kamalapuram for quite some time during his itinerary and the Prathisthapana of the Ishwara Linga in the Shiva temple at Cheppalli is attributed to him and the temple itself is locally known as the Agastyeswara Temple. |
